Andrew Steger - De Pere
Coach Andy Steger has been a varsity coach for over 20 years and coached soccer trips to Europe 5 different times. His first varsity jobs were coaching in Del Rio, TX where he was the varsity coach for both the boys and girls program, leading the boys team to their first ever District Championship. Coach Steger then spent 9 years coaching the varsity boys and girls teams at Green Bay Preble, helping lead the teams to the state tournament 6 times, 4 with the boys and 2 with the girls and twice being named the Press Gazette All-Area Coach of the Year.
In 2003 he became the varsity boys and girls coach in Burlington, WI where he spent 5 years before getting the job as the Head Coach for the St. Norbert College Men’s team from 2008-2011. In 2012 he took over as the Coaching Director for the Green Bay Lightning Soccer Club and then in the spring of 2013 became the varsity coach for the De Pere High School Girls team. He has made 1 state appearance with the De Pere girls and has been to the Sectional Championship game in the last 3 years while helping the Lady Redbirds win conference all 3 years.
Along with coaching varsity soccer teams, Coach Steger has coached numerous club teams for both Green Bay Lightning and De Pere Select. He holds his USSF National “D” License along with being trained in CPR and AED for the past 8 years. Coach Steger is an Alumni of Hartland Arrowhead High School, UW - Green Bay, and UW-Oshkosh. When he’s not coaching, he enjoys spending time with his family and watching his 4 children play soccer.
Tyler Thomas - GB Southwest
Tyler has been the varsity girls soccer coach at GB Southwest High School the past five seasons. In the 2015 season he lead the Lady Trojans to the WIAA State Championship Game for Division 2; finishing as state runner-up. For the 2015 season Tyler was named the Press-Gazette All-Area Girls Soccer Coach of the Year and also the Green Bay Press Gazette Preppie Girls Coach of the Year Award recipient. He also earned the Fox River Classic Conference Coach of the Year Award in 2014.
Outside of coaching for Southwest, Tyler is also the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Boys Soccer Program at Green Bay Preble High School. This past fall the Preble Boys squad finished as state runner up after falling 1-0 to Milwaukee Marquette in the State Championship. The team also finished ranked 2nd in the WSCA state rankings and 24th in the NSCAA national rankings. Tyler also spent six seasons as the Assistant Boys Soccer Coach at Green Bay East High School where he helped lead the program to a Conference Championship in 2015 and in 2014 helped guide the Red Devils to their first Sectional Final Appearance since 1990. Tyler also spent 2012-2014 as a coach and president for the Allouez ICE Boys Soccer Program. As a coach for the ICE Program he was named the Wiscosin Youth Soccer Association Boys Coach of the Year in 2012 and the St. Norbert College Young Alumni Award Recipient in 2013.
Tyler is a graduate of St. Norbert College and currently works as a Business Application Analyst at Nicolet National Bank.
Matt Ganzen - West De Pere
Matt Ganzen has over 25 years of soccer experience, including playing at the high school, club, and college levels. He has coached for over 11 years, mainly as the head coach of men’s and women’s high school soccer teams. He has also coached at the middle school (one season) and club levels. Currently, he coaches the West De Pere varsity women’s team and serves as the head coach for a U19 girls’ and as the assistant coach for a U14 boys’ United Hurricane club teams. He was also a member of a coach’s development board. Coach Ganzen’s overall record as a varsity head coach is 128-73-19. He holds his USSF National “D” license.
Coach Ganzen currently teaches English at West De Pere High School. He is an Alumni of Appleton North High School, UW Oshkosh, and Viterbo University. When he is not coaching, Coach Ganzen enjoys spending time with his family and cheering on Liverpool FC.
Bob Rickards - Notre Dame
Bob Rickards has been involved with soccer for over 35 years. This includes high school, some college and amateur leagues. Bob has 27 years of coaching experience which includes: recreation, competitive and adult men and women. His overall highschool record is (435-224-73, (.593 %)), and was selected Bay Conference Coach of the year (2002), Fox River Valley Coach of the Year (2005-07,2009) and Press Gazette All Area Coach of the Year (2005,07-09). He has been the Head Coach of Notre Dame Academy since 2004 where he has compiled an overall (354-141-65, (.632%)) record and a (78-26, (.750%)) record in post season play. Bob coached the Boys team to back to back state championships in 2007-08. His boys and girls teams have brought home three state runner-up trophies (2011,2013,2015) and three state sportsmanship trophies (2007,2010,2011)
He currently holds a NSCAA regional and high school diploma and a USSF "D" license. Bob was a licensed official who was certified in USSF, WIAA and NISOA until 2006. When he is not playing, coaching or officiating soccer, Bob can be found spending time with his family.
